The Elections Group’s CEO in Stockholm: U.S. Election Challenges, Collaborations and Innovations
In June 2025, Jennifer Morrell, CEO and co-founder of The Elections Group, traveled to Stockholm to participate in an international conference on election integrity hosted by International IDEA and the Swedish Election Authority. The event brought together 92 representatives from election management bodies across 39 countries to exchange ideas, celebrate International IDEA’s 30th anniversary, and strengthen global democratic collaboration. Jennifer contributed to the discussions by highlighting both the unique and shared challenges faced by U.S. election officials as well as innovative solutions election offices are implementing nationally.

Her presentation focused on successful collaborations that are shaping the future of election administration in the U.S. These included The Elections Group’s work with the U.S. Alliance for Election Excellence to advance Standards for Excellence and the Bipartisan Policy Center to improve training and support for election workers. She also shared progress in advancing transparent election audits, strengthening crisis readiness through tabletop exercises and communication training, and forging partnerships with academic institutions, legal experts and law enforcement. The breadth of experience and ideas exchanged at the conference underscored the value of international cooperation in defending and improving democracy.

In addition to the conference, Jennifer helped facilitate a hands-on Artificial Intelligence workshop in collaboration with Microsoft, aimed at demonstrating practical, productive and secure uses of AI in election offices. Participants explored real-world applications using curated prompts and scenarios to summarize legislation, create poll worker training materials and develop clear public communications. The session offered a forward-looking perspective on how election officials can responsibly integrate emerging technologies to improve their work.
By collaborating across borders, election professionals can exchange best practices, surface emerging research and build a community of support that reinforces the resilience and integrity of elections worldwide.
