“Security Sandwich” — Best Practices for Voting System Security and Accuracy Template
Download the template:
Starting long before Election Day, voting systems are tested to ensure they meet requirements for security and accuracy. That’s the base of our security sandwich. And after every election, officials seal, secure and store voting equipment. That’s the top. Use this template to fill in the rest of the “security sandwich” with the layers of security practices your office uses pre-election through post-election to secure elections and voting.
This template is intended to help election officials show voters, policymakers and the media how many layers of checks and protections they perform to secure votes and elections. Of course, different states use different voting systems and testing processes and have different requirements. Recognizing that not every state is required to or has the resources to follow these practices, we encourage election officials to tailor the content on this template to reflect and promote understanding of their specific voting system security practices.
This template includes instructions to help you customize the font and colors to support your office’s requirements or branding. And there is an library of icons you can use to help describe your security practices.
