Systems Check Guide Q&A with TEG
The team at The Elections Group recently released a new guide: Systems Check: A Guide to Testing Election Technology. We did a quick Q&A session to provide readers with some background on the guide.
Q: Why release this guide now?
A: It’s always a good idea to update resources because, well, things change and technology broadens. We wanted to set a fresh perspective on a historic practice.
Q:What sets this guide apart from others?
A: It is very comprehensive and gives the reader room to adopt the principles and incorporate strategies into their own testing plan
Q: TEG used to have a few different Logic & Accuracy guidance resources on the website. Why did you consolidate them?
A: As humans we tend to get stuck thinking about things from only one perspective. Election testing is more than L&A. It requires a more holistic approach. The guide hopefully shows that. We also have a Logic & Accuracy Explainer handout template, which election professionals can download and customize to reflect their plan and practices.
Q: What’s the top reason election professionals should turn to this guide?
A: It includes tried and true testing processes that election officials have used and found success using. The best practices in this guide help us continue to be successful election testers.
Q: While we’re here, is there anything else you want to tell election professionals?
A: Your ideas and perspectives matter. This guide is not a cookie cutter. It’s a compilation of principles, approaches and best practices. Your testing should revolve around your own plan, and the guide is here to support your work.
