De-Escalation Resources for Election Workers
The Elections Group and the Bridging Divides Initiative at Princeton University partnered to create de-escalation resources for election workers.
Among the resources included:
- 30-minute self-paced de-escalation course, accessible through The Elections Group’s new Election Learning Lab.
- Template training slides for in-person election worker de-escalation training, from which offices can use content for training sessions. (Note: The content for these slides and the self-paced course is nearly identical.)
- The link above is for a Google Slides template. You will need to be logged into a Google account to access the templates slides in slideshow format. A PDF version is available for download here.
- Information on organizations that provide comprehensive in-person and virtual de-escalation training sessions from BDI’s state-by-state De-Escalation Directory.
- Jointly hosted webinar on de-escalation resources and principles held Aug. 29 at noon EDT. Access the recording here.
By prioritizing de-escalation principles, election officials can help foster an environment for election workers where everyone feels heard and respected, allowing for more safe and productive interactions.
