Barton Named Committee for Safe and Secure Elections Vice Chair
The Committee for Safe and Secure Elections (CSSE) recently chose Tina Barton as its vice chair.
Barton, a senior election expert with The Elections Group, has nearly 35 years of government experience, serving at all levels. She has worked in election administration for the past two decades, including as city clerk of Rochester Hills, Michigan, and as senior program advisor to the executive director of the U.S. Election Assistance Commission.
“As vice chair, I’m looking forward to leveraging my experience to build on the collaboration between law enforcement and election officials, working tirelessly to ensure that our elections are secure, our officials are prepared, and our democracy is protected,” Barton said.
The committee features cross-partisan experts in election administration and law enforcement who aim to support policies and practices that protect election workers and voters from violence, threats and intimidation. It also works to build relationships and trust between election officials and law enforcement to better equip both to prevent and respond to threats and violence against voters and election workers.
“Through my work coordinating tabletop exercises across the country, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting dedicated election officials and law enforcement who do this work day in and day out regardless of their party affiliation,” Barton added. “These are our election heroes.”
